Jennifer L. Dorn (Jenna) is President and CEO of the National Academy of Public Administration, a non-profit organization chartered by Congress and dedicated to improving government. She has been a Fellow of the National Academy since 1992, and previously served on the Academy’s Board of Directors.
Since becoming President in March 2007, she has led an effort to expand the reach and impact of the organization, building partnerships with like-minded non-partisan organizations to tackle important cross-cutting issues of governance and management. Most recently, the National Academy partnered with New Paradigm (a non-partisan think tank founded by the authors of Wikinomics) to launch The Collaboration Project. This web-based forum gives government leaders throughout the nation and around the world a place to work together to develop best practices, policy guidance and implementation tools that will speed the integration of collaborative technology into the work of government, improve the delivery public services and make government more transparent and accountable to citizens.
Dorn has nearly 30 years of management experience, leading multi-billion dollar Federal agencies, as well as start-up and well-established not-for-profit organizations. She has been appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to four senior leadership posts in government. Most recently, Dorn served as the U.S. representative on the Board of Directors of the World Bank. She has previously served as the Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration, Assistant Secretary for Policy at the Department of Labor and as the Associate Deputy Secretary of Transportation. Her not-for-profit leadership posts include Senior Vice President of the American National Red Cross and service on a number of boards. She is currently a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration.
