Shirl Nelson, Acquisition Solutions, Inc.

 

Shirl Nelson is a consultant to Acquisition Solutions, Inc., where she headed their Research Institute among several other roles since joining the firm in 2000. Ms. Nelson came to Acquisition Solutions from the Department of Commerce, where she entered the Senior Executive Service as Senior Procurement Executive for the department in the mid 1990s. She capped her 25-year federal career with positions as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), and Director of Administration for the Bureau of Export Administration (BXA, currently, the Bureau of Industry and Security). In both of these positions, Ms. Nelson was responsible for bureau-wide strategic planning, finance, budget, personnel, and acquisition functions. Previously she held senior-level positions with the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

 

Shirl has authored numerous articles, including the chapters on Communications and The Future of the Acquisition Workforce in Acquisition Solutions’ recently published book, “Getting Results: The Six Disciplines of Performance-Based Project Management.”
